Hotel Neptuno Zipolite

The staff were welcoming and kind, but our stay in room #21 at the end of January 2022 was deeply disappointing. The room and the rest of the hotel seemed poorly maintained. Part of the balcony railing was rotten and felt weak. The bathroom’s glass wall had two missing panes, while the remaining ones were dirty. The water from the pipes was salty, and the pressure was poor or sometimes absent. The bedroom fan was rusty and caked with dust, and the chair was crooked and questionably clean. The restaurant bar next door, which belongs to the hotel, kept us awake on three nights with very loud music until 3:00 am. We’d been told it would stop at 11:00 pm. It was disappointing that the hotel and bar owners didn’t respect guests’ need to sleep. The place has a prime seaside location and a lot of potential, but the drawbacks outweighed the advantages for us. Reviews seem to suggest quality has declined over the years, as older ones were more favorable.

For the price, the rooms are good value. A few more windows would improve them, but the location is excellent and the place is clean. The showers are especially nice, warm, clean, and with good pressure. If you’ve been backpacking, you’ll appreciate that.

It’s not a fancy hotel, but it’s very clean and the people here are friendly. There’s also a good bar and kitchen next door. Dan, the manager, went out of his way to help me with a bunch of problems I’d had outside the hotel, and he did it cheerfully. Luis is wonderful too. Both men speak English and greet you with a smile. I was looking for a true beachfront hotel with AC and got exactly that for much less than the other places on the beach. My room on the 3 rd floor had cool AC and an amazing view from the bathroom, plus a balcony with direct access. Later I moved to the 4 th floor, where I had a king bed, AC, and a direct ocean view. The customer service really made it for me.

Hugo and Daniel at the front desk were incredibly kind, and the service was great throughout. The hotel sits right in the middle of the beach, making it easy to try different restaurants without a long walk. I also loved the hammocks and loungers on the front deck. I’d absolutely stay here next time.
