Hotel Mingood

Friendly staff and parking for both cars and motorcycles. Everything else is very basic, including breakfast, which is just bread and butter with coffee or tea. I wish they'd put a water jet spray in the toilet. The piping connection shouldn't be difficult. Fine as a place to stay if you're traveling on a budget.

The Mingood has a good location for tourists visiting George Town for the first time, since many likely stops are within walking distance. I've stayed there at least half a dozen times over the last 20 years on my fairly frequent trips to Penang, so I've built up fond memories. The staff have always been very nice. It's an old, rather shabby hotel, but in a charming way, and it's certainly not one of the classier places in town. I've included a few pictures from my room window and plan to add exterior shots later.

The manager at the welcoming lobby can help with a traveler's needs, even arranging a Thai visa. The service is great and the price is low. It's an old hotel with plenty of character, just a few minutes' walk from the free CAT bus.

The staff were friendly, let us check in before 2pm, and the hotel's location was very strategic. But I wouldn't recommend it to families with small children. We booked a triple room at Mingood Hotel expecting the promised bathtub, and there was only a regular shower. The toilet had no bidet hose, the room was old and musty, and the cups and glasses looked as if they hadn't been cleaned in ages. The air conditioning was slow. We stayed from 12 Sep 2018 to 14 Sep 2018.
