Dynasty Hotel Kuala Lumpur

I had a good experience overall. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was in good condition, and room service was quick. The toiletries were just so-so: there was no soap, and the shampoo and bath gel weren’t very good. Breakfast wasn’t bad, though there’s plenty of room to improve it. The food you can order to your room is quite expensive, so we didn’t try it, since better food was available elsewhere for less.

We stayed 9 nights in Malaysia, and this was the only place where I got bitten. I had big red marks all over my arms and legs, and that was the last straw. We packed up, called the booking agent to complain, and left early to find another hotel. I was tired of trying to talk to the staff and didn’t want to deal with them again. The agent was fantastic. After we sent photos of the room, she emailed them politely but firmly and got two managers to come see it. They agreed the condition was unacceptable, refunded the remaining days, and we left. Without the agent, I’m sure the staff would have given us the runaround. It was filthy everywhere. The building needs refurbishment, which I can understand, but the dirt was inexcusable. Day after day, grey dust and bits of stuff remained on the hallway carpets on our floor and the one above. At breakfast on our first morning, mosquitoes and small flies hovered over and crawled around some of the food. In our room, most surfaces turned dark grey when I ran a finger over them, and cobwebs hung in the corners at eye level or just above. The sheets had holes. The advertised bathtub was there, but its taps had been removed, and the stains inside looked disgusting anyway. The staff were rude and unhelpful, with a couple of exceptions. They argued with my wife when we asked for an extra towel because there were no hand towels, and for soap. We thought it was a reasonable request, but they seemed more interested in arguing whenever we asked for anything. The advertised WiFi was nearly nonexistent in the room. A nice tech guy, one of the exceptions, tried moving us to another room, but that one had the same connection problem and was filthy too. If this were the only accommodation left in Kuala Lumpur and it were free, I still wouldn’t stay here again. The one positive was a nice window view, though guests on the other side of the building wouldn’t get that.

I called to arrange an appointment between our company and the hotel. The receptionist or call centre person who gave the name Mr John, though I’m not sure if that’s his real name, spoke in a discourteous tone. I believe this kind of attitude can tarnish the image of such an esteemed hotel. I hope the hotel takes proper action and provides training to improve customer service. Thank you.

I was here for a three weeks training. The facilities were great, the staff friendly, and they gave us a fairly affordable flat parking rate. It’s an older building, so quite a number of toilets weren’t Muslim-friendly, with no water hose or bidet. Apart from that, everything was👍
