The staff made a big difference during my almost month-long stay at Cojoy early in 2026. Everyone was super friendly, and I had lots of nice, interesting chats with Grace and her colleagues. The management was also kind enough to provide a mini fridge for my room because I was staying longer, which I really appreciated. The location at the edge of Chinatown is great, just a stone's throw from Jalan Petaling and Central Market. Pasar Seni, the transport hub, is also within walking distance. I booked a room with windows, which seems rare in Malaysia for some reason. It was spacious, but the connecting door between rooms wasn’t convenient. Neighbours brought durians once and the smell filled my room; another time, the neighbours were louder than average, which wouldn’t have been an issue without that door. Room cleaning is by request, and that worked fine for me. There’s hot and cold water from a dispenser on the floor. That’s okay if your room is nearby, though I can see it being a nuisance for people staying farther away. The huge rooftop terrace has a 360 degrees city view and is lovely until around noontime and at night. It can get quite hot outside those hours, understandably. Internet is very fast throughout the hotel, including the rooftop, but you have to get a new password every 3 days. That’s inconvenient and can be irritating when working remotely. I suggest giving guests one password for their whole stay. They gave all kinds of reasons for the setup, but in my opinion none were valid, especially since this was the first time I’d run into it in five months of travel. I had a great time at Cojoy and highly recommend it for short or longer stays.

The location is great, with lots of restaurants nearby, and the rooftop is a lovely place to take in the city view in the evening. It’s a very clean hotel with beautiful design that feels comfortable and relaxing. The owner is lovely, and the staff are friendly, enthusiastic, and always ready to help. Having an iron and a hot and cold water dispenser on every floor is really convenient. I was highly satisfied and would definitely recommend it to friends!

Parking is the biggest gap: the hotel doesn’t provide any, and there are no public parking facilities nearby. The room door’s manual lock was defective, although they did provide a chain lock. There’s a small electronic safe, but the top bathroom window isn’t frosted or screened, which raises a privacy concern. The bathroom light and water heater switches need repair or replacement. It can also be noisy at the road junction, and the roof terrace isn’t especially impressive. The room itself was clean and odor-free, with clean, fresh-smelling towels and a clean toilet. The bathroom was clean too, though it had a slight odor from poor ventilation. Common areas were generally clean and well kept. The bed and pillows were comfortable and clean, and the room was spacious and in good condition. The aircon worked and cooled well. A shelf, luggage rack, and clothes hanger were provided, plus a hair dryer in the room. There was an iron and ironing board in the common area. Toiletries included a toothbrush and toothpaste, and 2 in 1 shampoo and soap. The front desk check-in was smooth, though the place could be better lit. Decor gets 3.8/5: they try to preserve tradition with antique wooden furniture, a sewing machine, thermal flask, metal drinking cups, and even a piano. Check-in gets 4/5, cleanliness 4/5, comfort 4/5, and safety and privacy 3/5. Toiletries get 4/5, and parking 0/5.

It’s near the market and restaurants, and a good place to stay if you want to explore KL on a budget. Late check-in was allowed, with no issues at all. The shower has a heater, though it leaked when turned on. It didn’t really affect our stay.

This was my second stay, and I’d be glad to come back. It’s a cozy little hotel with what you need and good value for the price. I liked the thoughtful details, from the old-time decorations to historical facts about the surrounding area, including on the rooftop. They give the place a lot of character. The staff were very friendly and welcoming too, which makes a difference.
