Green mountain lodging house

The room was good and the service was good too. I fell for one of the women who works at the hotel. Her smile melts me. I hope I can get her number one day.

The basics were all there: a clean bed, working AC, hot water for a shower, and Wi-Fi. For the price, it's worth it, especially if you're out exploring all day and only come back to sleep. The location is handy too, with well-known places to eat nearby, shopping centers not far away, and the waterfront within walking distance. I'd recommend it for that kind of trip.

The owner and staff were friendly, and the AC worked well. The hot shower was rejuvenating, which I appreciated in this very old hotel. It's one of the cheapest places in town, so you get what you pay for. The big issue is a nearby pub: except Sundays, it plays loud music from 10:30pm until 2am. On my first night, I woke at 1am to loud laughter outside it. The city council allowing the pub to operate nearby is regrettable. Without that noise, this would be a perfect budget stay.

We only stayed five nights because the booking was non-refundable, and luckily we had plenty to do in Kuching, so we didn't have to spend much time in the room. The location near the waterfront was good, with a minimarket, 7-eleven, and great restaurants nearby. There was also free soap and toilet paper, plenty of hangers and hooks, and one receptionist who had a great smile and was willing to help. The room itself was dirty and badly in need of a floor-to-ceiling renovation, along with new bedding and towels. The sheets wouldn't stay on overnight. My sheet blanket was cut from what looked like curtain fabric, the bedspread had cigarette burns, and the pillow was lumpy. The shower drain didn't work, leaving water on the floor, and sometimes the room smelled of sewer. The towel shed pieces when I dried off. We asked for a kettle and got one, but it was dirty inside and covered in orange spots. We've stayed in much nicer rooms for less.
