Imperial Palace Hotel

The room was spacious, with a bathtub, hose bidet, and excellent water pressure. Check-in was quick and easy, and the receptionist was friendly and helpful. The mattress and pillows felt a little too firm for us. Breakfast was nice enough for a light meal, though the selection was limited. Watch the elevator doors, they close pretty fast. Parking was the rough part: a wedding was happening when we arrived, so the basement was full and closed. Security told us to return around 10 PM, so we spent about 4 hours at the shopping mall. When we came back, the basement was still shut and only opened again about 15 minutes later. This was our first stay here, since we wanted to try a different hotel in Miri, not because it was our last option.

The centralized air conditioning felt freezing, even with the temperature set to 22 Degrees, more like 16 Degrees to me. The hotel is also near two of the loudest pubs in the city, so good luck sleeping. I've stayed here 3 times, and the parking situation is why I call it a 'parking trap.' If you arrive back late and the basement is full, you may leave your car in one of the many vacant spots outside. In the morning, I found an MMC parking offence notice on my windscreen for parking without a coupon. The hotel can legally say it isn't their fault, at least that's what the condescending receptionist at checkout implied. For around the same room price, I've had better stays elsewhere. I'm a Platinum Agoda member, so I know. Keep looking around, you won't be disappointed. Take your money elsewhere.

With about 150+ people in the Speaking hall, it still felt comfortable and not overcrowded. The staff service was commendable and nice. Getting to the entrance is less convenient, though. It's cramped and right beside a busy road most days, so there's nowhere to wait up front unless you're being dropped off.

The food may be good, but the room quality felt below average for a 4 star hotel. The rooms are old, and the carpet design raises some hygiene concerns. The pillows weren't comfortable either. The door uses a card insert, but it kept having detection issues and we had to try repeatedly.
