Lodge 37 Ranau

The WiFi kept cutting out, and the air conditioning barely worked, so the room swung between too hot and too cold. The room itself also wasn’t properly cleaned. There was dust on the furniture, marks on the sheets, and a musty smell that made it uncomfortable. The bathroom water pressure was poor, and the toiletries were low quality. There wasn’t a towel or mineral water either 😩 For what I paid, I expected a much better stay. I won’t come back, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone wanting a comfortable place.

I’m trying to find something nice to say about Lodge 37 at Wisma TSK. The room was average, with working air conditioning and clean sheets on the bed. We had one bath towel and one hand towel, but no amenities. The shower heater was noisy, the sink looked rusty, the water pressure wasn’t great, and the TV was in poor condition. It was quiet, but we felt uneasy about the surroundings. It’s beside the main road, and the Mart there closes at 9 pm. The area is small and dirty, and the building also seemed poorly maintained and not very clean, including inside. We were grateful to have somewhere to sleep after failing to book a better place in advance, though we were disappointed. Even at the cheapest rate, I wouldn’t recommend it. I hope they improve things soon and stop the low ratings. That’s our honest review.

The location is handy, beside Petronas and near Ranau Police Station. There’s a mart on the ground floor for basic supplies, and the staff speak softly and are quite serviceable. The water heater worked, though it was very loud. There’s a wall fan and air conditioning, but the facilities are basic, old, and nearly broken. Cleanliness needs work. We found cobwebs, a dusty table, lizard droppings by the window, and a mark on the bed board that looked like bodily fluid. The bathroom tiles also need scrubbing because they’re covered in mold. Could be an option for an emergency stay.

The air conditioning worked, but the TV didn’t. The room faced the main road, so it was noisy, and the water pressure was low in both the room and toilet. The toilet itself was reasonably clean. Workers were changing the sheets, though I wasn’t sure they’d been washed properly. This is a budget lodge, but cleanliness is a concern. There were cockroaches, and a swarm of ants gathered around dead ones. I’d only stay here for one night if I were desperate.
