The Core Hotel

For a one-night stop while travelling around, the room was fine. It was clean, the sheets smelled fresh, and there was enough room for two adults and one child to move around and open luggage, though it wasn’t spacious. My room, 108, had no window and a TV with about 3-4 channels. The bathroom had a heater, but we couldn’t find its switch, so there was no hot water. An ironing board was available in the common hall. The bar right beside the hotel could be heard from the room, about 60% noise level. Parking was difficult since it’s a public area, and at night people come to eat and visit the bars. The location is strategic, with restaurants, bars, convenience shops and a bank nearby. The price was affordable, less than RM 150 outside peak season. Check-in and checkout were easy with the machine, which issues the room card right away once you enter your details and prepare your IC. Remember to bring RM50 cash for the deposit. Without cash, the nearest bank is about a three-minute walk, and driving there isn’t advisable because parking is already difficult. I might return only if the bar next door is closed. 😄

The outside looks stylish, but inside was shocking. In my first room the aircon didn’t work, and there were large cockroaches and a bug under the bedsheets. Customer service moved me to another room, but it was still very old, with worn furniture and a general sense of poor hygiene. Getting hold of customer service was a nightmare because the numbers they provided didn’t work. I had to wait him for 15-20 mins. Extremely disappointing, I wouldn’t recommend this place.

The staff made me feel happy every time I saw them in the lobby. They were so kind, gentle, bright, and supportive. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your massage. I hope you’re always well and happy. ❤️

The noise was awful. I could hear people downstairs talking, laughing, and singing until two or three in the morning, and there was no soundproofing. The wall was cracked and the paint was peeling, while the floor felt uneven, as if it hadn’t been properly fixed. The bathroom also felt unsafe. A broken tile had a sharp edge that nearly cut my foot, and the sink barely trickled, making it hard to brush my teeth. The pillow had mould on one corner, and the sheet was covered in yellow and red stains. It looked unwashed for ages, so I didn’t dare lie down. I regretted booking as soon as I arrived. There were other issues too, but those were enough. Dirty, noisy, and unsafe. One night was plenty, and I won’t come back.
