What stood out most was how helpful the owner and staff were. They were patient, friendly and ready to assist with all sorts of problems. The ground-floor restaurant serves three meals daily; choices are limited, but the food feels homely and covers everyday needs. SunDown Guest House is within walking distance of Maputo’s embassy district and Santo António da Polana Church, the distinctive modernist concrete landmark. The neighborhood feels safe, quiet, tidy and organized, despite being close to military and political activity areas. A Portuguese operator runs it as a typical European family guesthouse. My room had simple, clean wood, marble and tile finishes, and rooms range from 30 to 50 square meters. The 1.8m×2m bed had a hanging mosquito net and was comfortable. The power sockets worked with my plugs, so I didn't need an adapter. The stay met my expectations and felt practical and balanced.

The place is quiet and not far from the centre, with very comfortable, clean rooms. Breakfast was great, prices were fair, and the service was kind and helpful. A very good guest house.

Cafes are close by, and it's an easy walk to the university and craft fair. The wifi is fabulous. Since I first started visiting in 2002, the service, value and welcoming family atmosphere have stayed consistent. Parabens to the owner, Denis, great job!
