A waiter did offer me a chair after I’d spent an hour and a half talking with the receptionist, but that was the only kind moment in a terrible experience. The hotel failed to honor my reservation, sold my room, and left me to find somewhere at the last minute. I had booked through expedia three weeks ahead for three nights over Easter weekend, knowing rooms fill quickly, and got the last available room. I left Costa Rica at 5 am on the Tica Bus to Nicaragua, arriving at 2 pm ready to bathe, nap, and eat. When I showed my reservation papers and passports, the receptionist just stared and said the hotel was full. He blamed the manager for overbooking and told me to look for a hostel or call expedia myself. I was livid and barely kept my temper. The manager never answered any of his repeated calls. I was sweating in the heat, and the receptionist said their phone couldn’t make long-distance or toll-free calls, so I eventually reached expedia myself. They got the same explanation, that my room had gone to someone else and the manager couldn’t be reached. I had to walk the streets to find another place. As expected, the only rooms available were in hostels or expensive hotels, and I paid more than twice what this hotel would have cost. I have nothing good to say about the place.

It’s on La Calzada street, close to restaurants, bars, and ATMs, and it’s open 24 hours. The prices are affordable, and the service is great. Rooms are large, clean, and comfortable. An excellent hotel in Granada, highly recommended.
