Dutchies Hostel

The receptionist was friendly, but the capsule room put me off right away. It was crowded and messy, and my sheet had lots of hair on it. When I asked for a clean one, the receptionist moved me to another bed instead. That bed was better, though it still didn't seem completely fresh. I felt too disgusted and worried to stay, so I went somewhere else for the night. Hostels I've used elsewhere in Europe have been cleaner and better organized.

The room size was okay, but hygiene could be better. The kitchen is quite small and the fridge was packed. The shared shower room for women stayed wet since someone always seemed to be using it. At night, people were using substances, and in the morning there were traces of it on the breakfast table, which was unpleasant to see. The one clear plus is that Lidl is right across the entrance.

The rooms weren't anything special, but they were clean, and the mattresses were comfortable. I also found the service nice, the price affordable, and the general atmosphere lovely. What felt a little sad was that most of the people I spoke with lived there and were more or less locals, so I didn't meet tourists from other countries until my last day, when I met an actual Korean tourist. If that's the kind of place you're looking for, I don't think it's a waste of money.

I've only been here a day and a half and have been busy, but I've already made so many friends from around the world. I heard there are drinks tonight and tomorrow, so I'm sure I'll meet more people soon. The shared tables in the shower rooms are a clever use of space, and the bathrooms and showers have been clean and stocked. There's plenty of room to lounge, with cool art and good music in the main area. It has a coffee shop feel, and every time I sit there I notice something new. There's a house cat too, and I already love him. The kitchen has everything you need. Staff aren't responsible for other people's dishes, but they keep checking and sorting out what needs attention. There are shared shelves with things left by previous travelers. The beds are really comfy, with a small personal storage area, two charging ports beside it, and lockers underneath. There are also useful extras like towels and flip-flops for sale, a vending machine, an ATM, and discount cards for attractions. I haven't had time to look for more yet. I haven't even left and I'm already looking forward to coming back!
