Moxy Amsterdam Schiphol Airport

The airport location is very convenient, but the customer service was practically nonexistent. I'm Titanium Elite with Marriott and still had to pay for breakfast. When I told the front desk there was no "do not disturb" sign in my room, I was treated like shit. They said they had none left and would make a note not to enter, but staff went in and cleaned anyway. I had valuable things in the room and didn't need it turned over. If you're used to how Marriott treats high status members, don't expect that kind of service here. The other hotels we stayed at in this city were great. Unless being next to the airport is your priority, the small amount you save isn't worth it.

Poor management was clear throughout our stay. The staff seemed immature, unwelcoming, and unprepared for a full hotel, with basic hospitality and professionalism often missing. At the buffet, plates and bowls were frequently dirty, and the tea often ran out without being refilled. The hotel also seemed to be raising prices to take advantage of passengers stranded by flight cancellations over several days. That felt exploitative. Alessandra was taking dinner orders and working the register. When she couldn't print a receipt for me, she said I should have asked in advance, even though she asked other customers whether they wanted one. After I pointed that out, she seemed determined to have the last word. It felt unnecessary and unprofessional. I wouldn't recommend this hotel.

There were only two staff members handling check-ins as well as the bar and restaurant, which was pathetic. The website says meals are served until a certain time and pizzas are available all night, but pizzas were the only thing to eat. For most of the evening there were no knives or forks, and they still hadn't been replaced by morning. In the morning the coffee machine only gave hot water. The service was terrible. I know staff may not like working on New Year's Eve, but they chose hospitality. At least smile, welcome guests, and wish them a Happy New Year at midnight. This was my worst hotel experience in many years. I can't recommend the hotel, even though I was Titanium Elite at the time.

Getting in and out was easy, and the hotel was clean with huge rooms. The bed was comfy, though the pillows weren't as much. It's about 15 minutes from AMS, with access only by shuttle bus or taxi. The staff were generally friendly, apart from an angry lady on the morning shuttle. The shuttle costs 5€. Breakfast was okay, just don't expect too much. Check-in and checkout were easy.
