Thon Hotel Storgata

The staff were friendly, and breakfast was good. The room was a little dirty, with some spots not cleaned well, though it was okay overall. I only gave two stars because I couldn't sleep and had forgotten my earplugs. It was far too loud outside, and I could hear the neighbors talking and snoring. When they shut a window, the whole walls shook. I wouldn't recommend this hotel even for a business trip. I wish I'd read the reviews before booking.

Update: I stayed here again while visiting the city with a couple of friends, and found out the hotel shares its building with a karaoke bar/nightclub. The rooms aren't soundproof at all. I could hear loud music and singing while trying to sleep. The karaoke place closes at 02:00, then people leave shouting in the streets, so you won't get to sleep until about 02:30. On my first stay, I'd thought the noise was a coincidence, maybe from a nearby apartment, but apparently it's like this every day. The walls were paper thin, too. I could hear everything next door, from toilet visits to snoring. I barely slept and won't be back. Stay clear if a good night's sleep matters to you. Original: The staff were friendly, and breakfast was excellent. The room was just okay for the price, nothing more. It was very warm, with no air conditioning, and the bathroom hadn't been cleaned properly. We found hair in the shower and dust and dirt on various surfaces.

The breakfast was really good, but the room hadn't been cleaned properly. There was dust and hair in the bathroom.

This older hotel could do with a refresh. The bed was probably the best part of the room. The shower had almost no pressure, and the water took a long time to warm up. Breakfast didn't have much variety. There were no fried eggs or even blueberry jam, and the bacon seemed to have been fried for an hour too long. If you only need a bed for the night and don't care about breakfast, it's okay. For a bit more, I'd suggest the other Thon Hotel, just two minutes away by car.
