Several times, I saw staff ask guests to keep quiet even when they were just talking normally. I found Mr. Sheru’s behavior in particular unprofessional and disruptive. The hotel should review expectations for how staff speak with guests so the atmosphere feels more respectful and welcoming.

It’s good value, and there’s a handy shared kitchen for travelers and backpackers. The rooftop is cute, with a view over the city. The place is about a four-minute walk from Thamel, but set far enough away that it’s peaceful and not noisy. The host was really kind, we clicked quickly, and he got us what we needed right away. I recommend it :)

The staff were super kind, and the location worked well: it’s reasonably quiet but still within walking distance of Thamel. My room was clean and the bed was reasonably comfortable. Free water from the filter by the kitchen was handy. The price was fair for a decent room, and I had a pleasant stay apart from a few issues. My front-building room got too much light and outside noise through the curtains and old wooden balcony door. The Wi-Fi was extremely poor, slow and unreliable. The dorms and small rooms are in the back building, where sound carries badly. A common area is right in front, so even normal conversation is easy to hear. It may not suit light sleepers, especially in a dorm or back single room, since hostel guests can be young groups or solo travelers socializing in the evening. The food wasn’t great. I ordered thukpa and got what was basically vegetables with instant noodles and a flavoring packet. I didn’t order food again, though the coffee was fine, and cold soft drinks, packaged water, and beer were sold at fair prices.

The staff were friendly and the service was very good. It’s both a restaurant and a hotel, called family peace house. The food here is tastier than at other restaurants. The rooms are good and have cupboards, but there aren’t clothes hangers and the toilets are quite dirty. Hot water in the rooms comes from solar panels, so it takes a while to heat up. In winter there was no hot water in the room, though the shared bathroom had it all day and night.

It’s in a great spot, just at the edge of Thamel but still somewhere relaxed. My private single room was small, though perfectly fine. Festival time meant all the buses to Pokhara were full when I needed a ticket, but they still managed to help me get one.
