Central Courtyard - Heritage Hötel & Artisan Café

The staff looked after both of us so well, in person and online, and even surprised me with balloons and a birthday cake. That really made my stay. My boyfriend and I were sad to leave. I booked the hotel for my birthday, and it lived up to it: the room, breakfast, location, and courtyard were all beautiful and just right for us. We have nothing bad to say and couldn’t recommend it enough. If I’m lucky enough to visit Kathmandu again, I’ll definitely come back. Thank you ❤️.

After our Manaslu Trek, I spent three happy days and nights at The Central Couryard. I’d spotted it while exploring Thamel a year earlier, during its renovation, and made a mental note to stay there sometime. That southeast corner of Thamel is my favorite. You can easily walk to the busy heart of Thamel and Kathmandu Durbar Square, but this area feels quieter and more spacious. The price is very reasonable for the quality. The owner emailed me a few days before check-in with nearby restaurant suggestions, and I tried a few. They were indeed great. I loved the lobby’s style, the inviting courtyard, and the cafe. My room had understated Nepalese style and art, and was quiet, spacious, and full of natural light. It was a nice place to come back to after exploring Kathmandu. Breakfast was freshly made to order and great, and the staff were very friendly. A stylish, well-run boutique hotel that gets it all right. I can recommend it without hesitation and plan to stay again.

There are restaurants and bars an easy walk away, but the hotel sits on a side street and isn’t very noisy. It’s charming and in a wonderful location, with excellent service and outstanding staff. The breakfast selection is very good, and so is the coffee. I’d definitely stay again.

The staff were lovely and the service was really good. The menu was pretty great, and the food delicious, though I’d have liked more choices and a dinner menu. When we were too tired to go farther, we went to the hotel Nextdoor for dinner. Some rooms have a nicer layout than others. Even so, it’s one of the most peaceful hotels in Kathmandu compared with other places. The least noisy rooms still had drunks (?) chatting in the alley at night and scooters going in and out, which woke us a few times.
