Dream Nepal Hotel & Apartment

The balconies offered a little glimpse of the mighty Annapurna, and our rooms were clean and looked after. Thanks to Robin, the owner, and especially Krishna, Manoos, Puran, lakshman and the rest of the smiling staff for making the stay at Dream fantastic. We did have an initial hiccup, though. Asish was manning reception when we arrived and came across as aloof and nonchalant.

Our room had great Wi-Fi and was spacious, with an iron, ironing board and cupboard. We had booked a superior AC room for 27Eur a night, but on arrival they told us we'd been upgraded to a studio. Breakfast came with the room, and for that price it was good. There were a few choices and they offered to make eggs too. The reception staff were friendly and the rest of the service was fantastic. At breakfast, though, a woman on staff kept walking around to make sure everyone was having a good time, and sometimes got into our personal space while we were talking privately. In the West, or most places, I'd probably ask if she needed anything. I'm sure it was cultural, and she didn't mean aadi.

We paid just 27 dollars a night for two and got upgraded to the suite. It had AC, a hot shower, Wi-Fi in the room and a balcony. The staff were really kind and found us a taxi to the airport. The hotel sits a little outside Thamel, which gave us some peace and quiet, though it was only a five-minute walk to the center. Our room was lovely. Breakfast could have had more variety and been less oily, but I still really recommend the place.

Good value for money, with a central spot in Thamel. The room was spacious, clean and well kept, and had modern amenities. Friendly staff too. I'd recommend it.
