The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the location near Thamel was perfect for an affordable stay. The staff were friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Puru Dai for the wonderful hospitality that made my stay memorable. Highly recommended.

That puts Kathmandu's main tourist area within easy reach without the constant noise of its busiest intersections. The Indian Visa Application Center and Garden of Dreams are also nearby, so the location works for tourists and people handling administrative visits. Room choices range from private doubles and family rooms, often with parquet flooring and traditional Nepali touches, to mixed and female-only dorms with lockers for solo backpackers. Many rooms have views of the surrounding mountains or Kathmandu city skyline, a rare treat at this budget level. The rooftop restaurant is a peaceful place to look out over the valley and order local or international food. Reviewers often describe the food as homely and praise the breakfasts prepared by the attentive kitchen staff. There's also a shared lounge with a cozy fireplace, a good place for travelers to swap stories and spend time together. Although it's rated 2 stars, the hotel has useful services: reception is open 24/7, helpful for late arrivals from Tribhuvan International Airport, about 5 km away. The rooms are quiet, with a comfy bed, good hot water in the shower, and really nice decoration. There's an outdoor terrace upstairs for relaxing or eating, plus a nice spot downstairs where you can order food. Lovely place and wonderful hosts.

Famous House Kathmandu made for a comfortable stay, with a great atmosphere and location. The family run hostel was excellent for cleanliness, and the kind, soft spoken owner, Mr. Purusottam Lamsal aka Puru, was the best part of it. It was a nice, memorable experience staying here.
