The fish on the menu was the standout for us, really delicious and worth trying. Mr. Santosh, the owner, was caring and attentive during our stay, too. Hotel Highlander sits in busy Thamel, but inside it felt unexpectedly peaceful, a nice place to relax with friends. We enjoyed our time there and found it a good option for a quiet break in the area.
Though Thamel is hectic, Hotel Highlander is tucked into a quiet corner about 50m off the main street. The room was very clean, the bed comfortable, and breakfast was a lovely continental one. Staff were friendly and knew the nearby sights and local amenities well. Great spot in Thamel, Kathmandu. I'd definitely recommend staying here.
The terrace was nice, and even with our bicycles taking up some room in storage for several days, they kept them for us. The rooms were clean and pleasant, and the staff were really friendly. It's right downtown in Thamel but quiet, a little oasis to recharge. Looking forward to coming back. 5/5
The restaurant was a lovely place to unwind, and everyone on staff was so friendly and helpful. My time at the Highlander was great. The room was spotless and had a wide choice of channels. It's right in central Kathmandu, yet tucked into a peaceful courtyard. I absolutely loved it.
The breakfast was pretty good, and the breakfast waiter was the only staff member I found reasonable and kind. We had booked a double bed but were given twin beds. In cold December there was long hair in the room and no hair dryer. Other guests talked loudly outside our room, and staff didn't ask them to keep the noise down. I'd avoid the rest of this place. There are other good hotels nearby, so keep looking.
