Hostel Himalaya

A simple, good hostel with clean rooms, roomy enough to move around, and large lockers. The managers are friendly, and good meals are available at reasonable prices. It's a quiet alternative just outside the Thamel bustle, but still close by. I'll stay there again.

The staff will help with whatever you need, and there's a nice grocery shop right nearby. It's secure and quiet, and the value for money makes it worthwhile. The atmosphere is easygoing, though it could use a little more enthusiasm. It's a decent walk from Thamel. The hostel feels a bit dated, but the owners upgrade it month-by-month. There's a balcony, though some beanbags or more comfortable seats would be nice.

I spent 10 days here, mostly on my own and relaxing, so I didn't interact much with people around me. Even so, the staff were the loveliest people in town, always helpful, cheerful, and keen to make me comfortable. It's clean, has a nice location close to Thamel, a good environment, and a great price. I recommend it even for longer stays. I had a really good time here. Thank you so much!

Bathrooms may be shared or attached depending on the room. They have electricity around the clock and clean hot and cold shower water. The hostel puts a lot of emphasis on travelers and staff sharing and communicating travel tips. There’s also a bar and restaurant at Hostel Himalaya. They offer airport pickups and drop-offs, plus a travel desk for trekking, tours, and mountaineering at low prices based on what guests need. They also give free information to people who want to arrange activities such as trekking or city tours on their own in non-restricted areas, without guides or porters.
