The owners are incredibly kind and have helped me a lot, even at times when I wasn’t staying there. It’s a great budget option in Thamel, with a really good location and very cheap rooms. The rooms are clean enough, nothing special, and the hot water doesn’t always work, though that’s common in Nepal. I’ve left my luggage here while going on treks and nothing was ever stolen.

I stayed five days and had a nice time, so I recommend it to low budget travellers. It’s cheap and in a good location, easy to find, with easy taxi access. Everyone on staff was polite, friendly, and really helpful. My room was quiet and okay, though it wasn’t the cleanest I’ve stayed in. Hot water wasn’t always available, but after 8 months in Nepal I’d gotten used to that, it’s pretty normal here.

Dust and mold covered the room. Even after I asked for cleaning, it was still dusty, especially the years of buildup on the windows and lights. The shower barely had any water and there was no hot water. There were no mosquito nets on the windows or entrance, and I got dengue. I was told I’d get a discount, but at checkout the owner lied and said he hadn’t forced me to stay. I was the guest, yet I had to clean every corner of the room myself. Worst hotel of my life.

My friends and I have been staying at this lovely Guesthouse for 13 years, and we’re always happy there. It feels just like home. The Joshi family and their helpers have helped us with so many things, whenever we needed it. We stayed in May and October 2015, then again in April and May 2016, and always felt very safe and VERY HAPPY. Thankfully, the guesthouse had no crack from the earthquake. Thank you so much!
