Galaxy Inn Guest House

This was my worst experience in Nepal, even though I’ve stayed in homestays and hotels in different cities on four trips here. I booked a double room with a private bathroom and one queen bed, but we were given a twin room. I was exhausted after a 20-hour bus ride and felt so unwell I could barely move, so I didn’t notice the bed arrangement at first. What I did notice was the musty smell, damp and dirty bedding, and water stains on the walls. I just fell into bed. The next morning we moved to the room I’d originally booked, but it was covered in stains too. Everything was shabby and old. It needs more than repairs, it all needs to be thrown out and completely renovated. To turn on the shower tap while there was water in the sink, you had to turn a screw under the sink. There were about 15 rooms in the guesthouse, shared by three or four people, including noisy, screaming children. Guests kept changing, including at midnight and early in the morning. The owner laughed loudly throughout the guesthouse, and I couldn’t sleep properly. The next morning we moved to a nearby hotel for the same price and got a clean, bright, quiet room. I absolutely do NOT recommend this guesthouse. There are so many places to stay in Pokhara for that price, so it’s better to choose somewhere else.

The owner is friendly, the location is good, and the price is very good. I stayed here twice and would come back to this lovely place in Pokhara. The garden is lovely too, great for chilling out with a book.

A nice host and a very good location close to phewa lake, with lots of budget eateries nearby. The room was a bit old, but okay. Overall, a good guesthouse.

A warm, quiet place with a clean room and comfortable bed, plus a beautiful garden. The owner is amazing, takes care of everything, and always checks that things are okay. It has a homely feel, and this is where I felt best during my trip.
