Hotel Lotus Inn

From the top of the hotel you can see the mountains, and the setting feels natural. It’s close to Lakeside, too. The place has a real at-home feel, and everything was excellent.

After just one night, I moved to another hotel because this one wasn’t for me. In my Booking.com review, I mentioned the barking dogs making evenings and early mornings noisy, very slow internet that sometimes stopped working, and a location quite far from the main tourist area. The room felt old, with dirty walls and dusty furniture. Breakfast was poor, and I had stomach trouble afterward. Once I posted that review, the owner started sending me insulting and threatening messages, and is still writing to me. I found him aggressive. Be careful. I believe the owner has a mental illness.

For the price, the rooms are comfortable and very good, though they aren’t luxurious. Places nearby cost over 1000 rupees, so this was inexpensive for such a central location. It’s about a 20-minute walk from the bus station and 15 minutes to the trekking permit office. The staff let me choose my room, got my laundry done quickly before my trek without an extra charge, and booked a bus to the start of the Annapurna Circuit for a small additional fee. They also kept my bags for free. Wi-Fi worked really well even in my top-floor corner room, which I haven’t found to be usual.

Just a minute or so from shops, cafes, Lakeside and mountain views, but set back from the main street enough to stay quiet. I spent a few weeks here, and found the hotel friendly and comfortable. The rooms were large, bright and clean, and there’s a nice garden.
