Hotel Sunflower

I wouldn't recommend this hotel. It was a nightmare compared with the many other places we've stayed in Nepal. The bedsheets and covers weren't changed, the bathroom wasn't cleaned, and used soap and toilet paper were left there. The owner's family smoked and talked loudly at night and early in the morning, leaving us feeling suffocated and unable to sleep properly. We were also charged 1200 NPR for bus tickets that the conductor said cost 500 NPR, and the Agni bus was very poor. When we brought outside food, the owner insisted we eat breakfast at the hotel, where one paratha and a bread omelette cost us an unreasonable amount. Online payment also came with a 3.5% exchange rate charge for Indians, while the rate throughout Nepal is 2%. There was no geyser or gas for hot water, only solar heating, which didn't work in winter because of Nepal's late sunrise. The owner had picked us up from the bus boarding point and said there'd be 24 hour boiling hot water, so we were disappointed when there wasn't any. When we explained that we were sick and couldn't bathe in cold water early in the morning, he shouted at us, asking what else we expected to call hot. He claimed other guests were using the warm water, even though we were the only guests checked in. Hotels near lakeside, or shivalaya and blossom, cost the same and have much cleaner, better maintained rooms.

The school right next door made it hard to enjoy our five-day stay, with hundreds of children shouting. We also had no hot water in the bathroom, and got unconvincing explanations about it each time. The owner's lack of basic courtesy was disappointing. Plus, this isn't close to the lakeside, where plenty of other hotels at similar prices are in nicer spots. I strongly discourage staying here.

The owner was really nice and helpful. Good room, good price, and a convenient location.

The rooms are decent for what they cost. A cheap option if you're traveling on a budget.
