OYO 227 Hotel Moonstone Inn

The room itself was only average, but the staff and charges made this a terrible stay. At check-in, we were told the hotel was no longer with OYO. When we checked out, though, we were charged double for a one-night stay under OYO's 11 AM checkout rule, which nobody had mentioned when we arrived. The staff member argued when we refused to pay extra and told us to complain to the police. Very rude treatment. We were also charged double for soap because there was no check-in kit, and food cost more than the menu showed. The owner said the bill difference was a mistake, but it seemed either they didn't know their own prices or were doing it deliberately. They also forced us to pay a 10% service charge despite the poor service. Rain left the hotel without electricity for about 4-5 hours, and there was no battery backup. The free Wi-Fi kept disconnecting every minute. They also work with travel agencies and seem to add their own margin to bookings. A tourist bus or taxi could cost almost twice the usual amount, as we found when booking a taxi ourselves for about half the price. Instead of helping tourists with local guidance, the owner seems focused on making extra money. I wouldn't stay here if you're looking for a hotel in Pokhara Lakeside.
