Whispering Sands Motel

The location is stunning, truly 10/10, and the cleaning staff were kind, caring, and respectful. We also appreciated that the motel welcomed pets. Sadly, the rest of our stay was uncomfortable and disappointing. Our family of 12 booked three rooms for a week and paid around $6,500. Room servicing was inconsistent. One room wasn't cleaned at all during the six days. When we asked why, we were told it was because “men were sleeping in the room,” even though we were working night shifts, which was why we booked the accommodation. Other rooms were only partly serviced, while some were cleaned properly. The toilet and shower were extremely small, making daily routines difficult for anyone who isn't very petite. I slipped on the stairs in heavy rain and fractured my arm in two places. There was surface water on the stairs and no warning sign where I fell. I didn't feel the situation was handled with empathy or care. Rather than acknowledging the conditions, I felt blamed, which added stress to an already painful experience. I also became concerned about safety after a staff member told me she had fallen on the property and suffered a significant back injury. A male manager knocked on the bedroom door while our 13- and 14-year-old girls were in their pyjamas. He leaned into the room and put his foot inside the doorway while speaking to them, rather than asking to speak with an adult about a noise issue. It was inappropriate and made them uncomfortable. Any concerns should have been taken to an adult, not the children. We also found unfriendly notes in our room about things that could easily have been discussed kindly and respectfully. Management didn't come across as warm, welcoming, or customer-focused, and the leadership really let the place down. When I tried to explain how bad the stay had been, I was told, “That’s not a me problem, that’s a YOU problem.” That felt incredibly dismissive and unprofessional coming from management. With the poor management, uneven service, safety concerns, and the way our issues were handled, I can't recommend staying here. Beautiful setting, but a nightmare stay.
