Colonial City Motel and Conference Centre

We enjoyed our stay, and the reception staff were quick to reply to our message and gave us a bottle of milk. The room was good, with a well-equipped kitchen and a fairly spacious bathroom. The curtains didn't close all the way, though, and the light outside our room stayed on all night.

There's been a big renovation, with fresh paint, new flooring, and new bathroom and kitchen fixtures. The windows are double glazed, and the door uses a key card lock. The bathroom has plenty of hooks, rails and shelves, along with good lighting. The shower and Wi-Fi were good too, and the location is handy for walking around. The one drawback was how much light came through the curtains.

We stayed at Colonial City Motel while travelling up from Taranaki for surgery. The apartment was tidy for an older building, and central Hamilton was an easy walk away, though the road gets busy at peak times. Reception is at the hotel across the road. It would help to have a contact number for after hours: we had a bad night because a large group in the apartment above were drinking, talking loudly and playing music, despite parties not being permitted.

I was a little uncertain after reading some reviews, but the stay turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Our two-bedroom unit suited our needs perfectly, and it was clean, modern and comfortable. The host was very helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back on our next travels.
