Phil and, I believe, his family are what made this place special. He was friendly and accommodating, offered to help with our luggage, and pointed out the lovely park across the street. He also told us about a free glow worm site, though sadly we didn’t get to go. The rooms were clean, well ventilated and thoughtfully set up with everything we needed. The location was fantastic, about five minutes by car to the beach and even closer to town. This was our favourite hotel on our two-week trip. We wished we’d stayed longer, and I’d recommend it without reservation, especially as a stop before driving to Christchurch. I really like what Phil is doing here.

Sonia made us feel so welcome and was helpful and knowledgeable about the area. The place is quiet, laid out well and within walking distance of town, with a great kids’ play area in the park opposite. After a day exploring, the bathroom spa was a treat. The bed was super-comfy, and we had everything we needed, from fresh milk, tea and coffee to plenty of fluffy towels. Spotlessly clean and modern, with great service. Hokitika was our last stop on a South Island driving holiday, and our only regret is not staying longer.

Sonja went out of her way to help us, and the price was very reasonable. The family-run place feels like it’s cared for: modern, tasteful and spotless. Our generously sized room had the basics plus a kitchenette, and it was comfortable.

The rooms are plain but clean, and the location worked well for everything we wanted to do. The receptionist was friendly and informative, and even lent us an umbrella. Parking in the lot is limited, but there’s plenty of street parking.

The staff were helpful and accommodating, and the place was easy to find, just 15 steps from the city centre. Our modern, clean room had a very comfortable bed and a well-equipped kitchen. Really nice stay.
