Ava Lodge

Ava Lodge in Petone was spotless throughout, from the rooms to the shared spaces, and it also has a well equipped kitchen and communal areas for guests who want to cook or spend time together. The staff were welcoming when we arrived, and check in was quick and easy. The location makes it easy to get around. It’s in the heart of Petone, a short stroll from cafes, restaurants, and shops, and conveniently near the waterfront, local attractions, and the views there. Our room mixed a modern look with a cozy feel, and had complimentary Wi-Fi, a flat screen TV, and comfortable bedding. It’s a relaxing place to stay for business or leisure, with good service and comfortable rooms. I’d recommend it for exploring Petone or just taking a break.

There are so many cafes and restaurants within easy walking distance, and the staff are really friendly. I travel a lot for work, and after staying at places that felt less modern and tidy, I switched to Ava Lodge looking for a cleaner, more up to date option. It met and exceeded my expectations. Ava is now my go to when I’m in Wellington, and I’d recommend it to anyone wanting a comfortable, clean, modern place to stay.

After a 2.5 hour drive, mostly bumper to bumper and with some questionable merging from other drivers, the welcome we got was just what we needed. When we arrived today, 8 Jan 2026, they told us they’d upgraded our room from a Queen to a King because they’d noticed we had a young baby and could use the space. This is my second stay here. The first was superb, and this time has been even better. It’s so peaceful. We felt relaxed from the moment we arrived. Thank you, Ava Lodge Motel, for helping this Mama and baby out 😊

My daughter and I stayed nine days over Christmas and New Year. The staff were friendly, and the lodge was well appointed, clean, quiet, and comfortable. Joe Penman is an excellent manager who runs things smoothly and efficiently. We’ll be back.
