We stayed in an older family unit. It looked clean and well presented at first, but there were plenty of issues once we looked closer: cracked tiles, broken door handles, and a toilet seat that didn't fit and barely stayed in place. The room was adequate, nothing special. Outside, a fence kept blowing in the wind and disturbed our sleep. My teenage son's wireless headphones went missing from the room during our stay. The motel wouldn't take responsibility and has now blocked my number, so I have to call from my children's phone. Emails went unanswered, and it took three calls before they called back, only to deny responsibility again. When I mentioned something missing from a room, they said they'd “check cameras.” Either that was a lie, or they have cameras inside the rooms.

The train station is handy, but otherwise this place is such a hole. We were given a different room from the one we booked. The toilet seat was broken, and my partner had to fix it so our toddler would use it. The whole faucet turns when you turn on the tap. It's really loud with no soundproofing, and the water pressure is poor despite the sign saying “new high pressure showers.” Absolutely wouldn't recommend it.

They couldn't find our booking, then put us in a unit completely different from what we'd reserved. It smelled damp and mouldy, and there was spare furniture from another room that they asked if we'd like to use. The fridge was switched off and needed repair, and we had to ask for milk. There was no Sky box, despite the claim that every room has one, and no DVD player, flannels, tea towels or hairdryer. The supposed coffee machine turned out to be a kettle. Very disappointing, especially as we paid nearly $200 for a room valued at $143. It was lucky we were only there for one night, or we would have left. I wouldn't recommend it. It seems they show photos of the nicer rooms, then give you one of the run-down ones.

The heat pump couldn't be controlled, and there's no refund once you've paid, which of course is before you see the room. This is the worst place I've ever stayed. It's dirty, old and run down, despite them saying it was newly renovated. Definitely not five-star, definitely not three-star, just one star.

The only thing going for this place is its somewhat handy location. We arrived a minute before 2 pm check-in and weren't allowed into the room. The unit and bathroom were filthy, and I had to scrape encrusted food off the bench. We didn't use the cutlery or cups because we couldn't be sure they were clean. There was no iron or ironing board, so we had to ask for those, and we also had to request a hairdryer. The internet was absolutely pathetic. We'd stayed here a few years ago, but it has clearly changed hands and gone downhill significantly. Terrible experience, and we'll never come back.
