We had a spacious hard-standing pitch, and our 6m van backed in easily with the rear doors still accessible. It may have been one of the better spots, as we’d booked two nights. The bathrooms were clean, with lovely hot water and good shower pressure. The facilities aren’t the newest or fanciest, but had everything we needed for camping. The herb and veggie gardens, pizza oven fired up every other night, and hot tubs with cosy towels were highlights. When we called ahead to book a tub, we got a handy tip that Nonnas bakery in town sells part-cooked pizza bases. Mike is genuinely lovely, and he and his wife have clearly put a lot of care into the place. He even checked whether we’d found the heating switch when he saw us resting in the TV room. Little touches like that made this the most helpful and genuine campsite of our South Island loop, which we visited near the end. Two nights still didn’t feel like enough. It was lovely to see people running a site with such passion and care.

We stayed one night before heading to Milford Sound and had a lovely time. The staff welcomed us warmly, and the bathrooms were clean. There are jumping pillows, hot pools and a sauna. The sauna is small, with room for two at most, and can be booked free for 30 minutes. Highly recommend!

After a day on the Milford or Kepler Tracks, the cosy hut-style units make a lovely place to unwind. They feel more personal than a standard motel room, with rustic character and modern comforts. The park sits right by the lake and is a spotless, well-kept base for exploring Fiordland, including the Glow Worm caves. Hot tubs with great views and the communal pizza oven add to the stay, and the friendly staff are happy to offer local tips or help with tour bookings.

Mike, the owner, was especially welcoming and went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and had what we needed. The service was outstanding, and the relaxed atmosphere made our stay in Te Anau a pleasure. Everything was spotless, well cared for and maintained with attention to detail. We couldn’t have asked for a better place and will definitely be back.

The gardens, campsites and facilities are well maintained, and the location is close to town. After finishing the Kepler Track, the sauna and hot tubs were magnificent for sore muscles. A must-stay.
