Te Anau Top 10 Holiday Park

The location worked well for our family of four, whether heading to Milford or Fiordland National Park. The supermarket and restaurants are only a few minutes’ walk away, and it’s family-friendly. We found the rooms too small. Staff took our credit card information as room security, which felt like a red flag to us. Our kitchenette room didn’t have dinner plates or pans, but staff helped when we asked. Even as Top 10 members, we were disappointed to find that the hot pools and trike bikes cost extra by the hour.

The staff were friendly, and we liked the spacious, warm, cozy TV room. The kitchen is large, but at busy times it doesn’t have enough sinks or cooking stoves. Showers are also in short supply for the number of guests, which makes things difficult when it’s busy. All the shared areas are cleaned together each day from 10:00 to 12:00. You need to finish your morning routine before then and find somewhere else to go while the facilities are closed. A nice holiday park, with that downside to keep in mind.

It’s clean and quiet here, and everyone was nice. The showers were lovely and hot, with strong pressure. I was dealing with bad travel allergies and wanted to steam myself, so I asked at 8:30 am if I could pay $20 to use the spa. I was told I was no longer a customer because we’d stayed the night before and were checking out at 10, even though we still had an hour and a half before checkout. They said I couldn’t book anything at all. The issue wasn’t that facilities were being cleaned, it was being told I no longer counted as a customer at 8:30. Once someone is a customer, they should always be treated as one until they choose never to return. Since I couldn’t pay for the spa or sauna or whatever, I took a really long, hot shower, even though I try to do things the right way and pay for what I use. I’ve updated this to four stars because the people were nice and the showers were good. Just be aware you can’t book the spa after waking up if you’re checking out that day.

A good place to camp in Te Anau. The camping spots are near the road, but that didn’t bother us. It’s just seconds on foot into town. Facilities were great: a big kitchen and indoor seating area, clean bathrooms and showers, and laundry service. Would recommend.
