Mountain Heights Lodge

The fireplace and hot tub were our favorite parts of the stay. We could also cook dinner in the huge, fully equipped kitchen, and there was a roomy guest area with a dining table and couches. Our lodge room was spotless, with comfortable bedding and lovely wooden furniture. The new owners, André and Sonja, were friendly and helpful, and recommended some great walks. We'd definitely come back.

We loved staying here for two nights on our honeymoon. The warm interiors and old-fashioned mountain lodge feel made the place feel like home. Our room was nice, though the restroom was a little small, and the heaters kept it warm at night. After a hike on our second morning, we found a thoughtful basket with a chocolate bar, two wine glasses and a bottle of sparkling wine. It was such a heartwarming touch and made the honeymoon feel special. Breakfast is served in the shared area, with a limited but good continental spread of milk, yogurt, bread, jams, tea and coffee, and items are replenished. There are 10 rooms in the lodge in total. Everyone working there was warm and happy to answer our questions. It's also well placed for visiting Tongariro national park. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it.

The hot showers and spa were just what we needed after long hiking days. The lodge was cozy, the host lovely, and we especially enjoyed feeding the alpacas onsite. Breakfast was provided each morning, and having fresh hot coffee available at all hours was a bonus. It's a beautiful, convenient base for the Tongariro crossing.

We had a lovely two-night stay while visiting the nearby national park. The view was beautiful, and the common room where breakfast was served was comfortable, with a nice chance to chat to other travelers. Our bed was very comfortable, the bathroom clean, and we could use the kitchen and fridge when needed. It's a lovely family owned business, highly recommend!!!
