La Casa de Sillar Hostel & Foods

Our room was comfortable, though a little cold at night, and extra blankets were available. The shower had hot water, and breakfast was simple but good. The place is calm, clean, welcoming, and charming, less than a five-minute walk from Cercado Arequipa. We'd booked a shared room but were upgraded to a private room with a bathroom, a nice start. The owner was friendly, kind, and reliable. When our cellphone broke, he told us where to get it fixed, and now it works like new. Highly recommend!

The shared kitchen and dining area were great, and we had a comfortable, welcoming stay in a spacious room. There's also a small private garden with a hammock, just right for resting tired feet after a long day of exploring. I really liked the layout. You'd never guess what was behind the doors.

The hostel is quiet, with places to relax and a rooftop terrace where you can watch the sunset. Breakfast is included and was amazing, changing each day: omelette, pancake, or guacamole, plus homemade juice, regular bread, jam, and butter. They gave us great recommendations for the city and Colca Canyon tours. They can arrange pickup from the hostel if needed, and the price was very good compared with other travel agencies we checked.

The owner was super helpful and speaks good English. We could leave our bags when we went away to Colca Canyon for a couple of days, and even take a quick shower before catching our night bus. The rooms are a bit dark, and you can't open a window, but the rooftop terrace is lovely.
