The front desk was hard to communicate with. English was limited, and even questions sent through a translation app didn’t get answered, which left me struggling. This could be difficult if you don’t speak Spanish. Also, nights in the area can get very loud. Music came through the closed windows and went on late. Light sleepers should bring earplugs.

The building has a magical feel, with plants everywhere, lots of natural light, and a terrace looking out over the city. The location is fantastic. My friends and I had two rooms, one on the lower level with a beautiful city view and another upstairs with a balcony over the street. Both the rooms and beds were super comfortable and had everything we needed. The price was shockingly good. The staff were wonderful and helpful, especially Rodrigo, who took good care of us. There’s a spa in the building, which was amazing after our trek. Tea is available 24 hours a day, and I loved that. Breakfast was so good. I’m not sure why someone complained about it, it was far superior to hotel breakfast in the USA. Thanks so much, we’ll be back. 10/10 recommend.

The hotel’s architecture reminded me so much of the house in the Disney movie Encanto that I felt like I’d walked into the film when I first came in. The staff made the stay enjoyable, and the laundry was reasonably priced. Breakfast was always good, with different cooked dishes alongside the continental options each day. I especially liked the banana pancakes and fried sausages. My only small gripe was one morning when breakfast was meant to be available at 6, but they only started bringing the food out at 6, so I couldn’t get my day started at 6:20 as planned. Keep up the great work!

The first night, at 12:15am, the front desk guard unlocked my already locked door and came into my room. I woke up frightened to find someone inside. They realized the mistake and left without apologizing, but left the door unlocked. I walked into the hallway in my undergarments to see who had entered and saw the front desk person go around the corner with the master key. The next day administration admitted the entry was a “mixup,” then suggested I needed to lock the door to prevent it happening again. The employee had the master key, and my door had been locked. They said they’d follow up, but never did. My travel agency booked this three-star hotel, and the whole stay was a nightmare. It was freezing in the room, and the wall heater was so loud that sleeping with it on was impossible. It was 8°C in Cusco in the morning, and the room was just as cold. I reported it on day two and was told maintenance would be informed, but nothing was fixed. The bathroom smelled of sewage fumes, masked with strongly perfumed cleaning chemicals, and the window was left open. Paint was peeling, walls were scuffed, and one wall flexed when I leaned against it, like unsupported Sheetrock. I found long black hairs on the bed linens. Breakfast was a joke: fruit, cereal, eggs, olives and bread, that’s it. The cereal was stale and chewy. Coffee “extract” in hot water made a tepid drink, worse than gas station coffee. The bread was stale and low quality, and when I asked for it toasted they burned the whole thing. Some nights loud music came from next door, as other reviews have noted. The staircase was uneven, with seven elevation changes on the same floor between the stairs and my room’s bathroom. It’s an old building, but the layout felt hodgepodge. There was no wifi in the rooms, and none of the four WiFi networks worked there. There are so many other options in Cusco. Don’t waste your money here.

I found bed bugs in my room and asked the front desk to cancel my reservation. He called the owner, who said I’d have to pay for one night as a cancellation fee before leaving. We had to communicate through a translation app, which made a difficult situation harder. The staff member said the fee would come out of his salary, so I paid just to leave. I know this review could get him in trouble, but people should know about the bed bugs and this horrible place and sketchy owner.
