Antawasi Cusco

Breakfasts were good and the location was great, but it was quite noisy, so I needed earplugs to sleep. I stayed six nights and had a hot shower on only three of them.

I could walk everywhere from this small hotel, which is in a great location. The rooms were simple and comfortable, though a bit cold during the day when I was there in winter. Thick blankets kept me warm overnight, and the shower always had hot water. Wi-Fi was consistent. All the outlets worked, but a few were loose enough that plugs fell out if the cord moved. Not a big deal, I just plugged them back in and moved on. The room was cleaned daily. They replaced the soap after the first day, but I kept using the bar I’d already opened, so they didn’t replace it again. The towel was never changed, so I hung it up and reused it. Breakfast was basic but delicious, and the employees spoke some English, so communication wasn’t much of a problem. Each time I came back, I had to wait for someone to let me in through the front door. Usually someone was at the desk, and I never waited more than a minute or two. I’m sure that also helps with safety. Definitely a good hotel for the price.

The restaurant and breakfast were both great, especially those banana pancakes, and the cooks and waiters were lovely. The hotel is under a 10-minute walk from Plaza de Armas, with plenty of shops, restaurants, pharmacies, and banks nearby. Reception staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. There’s no elevator, but staff always carried our luggage up and down the stairs. In July the room felt a little cold; the heater from reception helped, though another degree or so of warmth would have been nice. Recommended.

A really nice hotel, with large, clean rooms and polite, helpful staff. We did hear a lot of noise right beside our room during the night, and nobody could explain what it was. It wasn’t too bad, though, and otherwise we enjoyed the stay.
