Bamba House Cusco

I love it here. I’ve stayed in Cusco many times at hotels of different levels, and this is a great deal, especially if you’re able to walk moderate distances. The location is ideal. The beds are comfortable with fantastic bedding, and housekeeping is provided Monday through Saturday. The staff are wonderful and go out of their way to help. They found me a room with a private bathroom and as little outside noise as possible, helped me with printing and email, carried my luggage upstairs, and helped in other ways. They even prevented a crisis back home. Communicating with them is a pleasure.

We found the room acceptable, but the balcony seating area right outside our bedroom window meant hearing people talking. We also had a loose power point between the beds. It worked, but the plug kept slipping out, so charging a phone was difficult, and it looked very unsafe. The Wi-Fi was intermittent, and there was no local TV in our room. We hadn’t noticed when booking that the bathroom was shared, which was our mistake. The bathroom itself was okay, but exposed power cables looked unsafe; there was no toilet brush or decent hand soap. There was no hairdryer in the room either, though we could ask reception for one. Hot water took a few minutes to come through, and strangely, it ran when the handle was turned toward the cold-water side.

The staff were very friendly and helped us with questions and booking day trips, even though they don’t speak much English. The location is central, with easy access to the center. Rooms are decent, but in winter they might not be heated enough. If you let them know in advance, breakfast can be ready as early as 5:30 AM so you can eat before heading out.

The women at the desk made us feel at home. We planned to stay one night, but ended up staying around a week. They were so kind and helpful with our daily activities and tours, and got up early to send us off with breakfast on mornings when we had an early start. I can’t thank them enough for having us and helping us have such an incredible time in Cusco.
