Hotel Maria Luisa

The room itself was clean and acceptable, and the location was central. But the hot water kept cutting out and never got properly hot, while breakfast service was poor. The eighth-floor staff member seemed somewhat rude. I asked for scrambled eggs, and they made them with obvious annoyance. A few hours later I felt weak, with a headache and stomach pain, so I wondered if it might have been food poisoning.

The rooms are on the small side, but I appreciated how clean and organized everything was. The receptionist helped us a lot with what we needed, and the service was good for such an affordable price. I had a great stay, thanks for everything. I’ll definitely come back next time. :)

The night was miserable, especially with our one-year-old waking up several times from the heat. There’s no AC, and after the reading light beside the bed got stuck on, staff tried to help me tape the buttons down but couldn’t switch it off. They eventually moved us to a smaller room on our floor, so we had to repack. By then the baby was crying well past bedtime and we were all sweating. We arrived to find our room practically within arm’s reach of another one, so it seemed easy for someone to sneak in. The bathroom window also had dust and fingerprints. While Wendy, Grisel, and a young gentleman were incredibly kind and patient, the hotel administration didn’t seem to care about the guest experience. Given the awful night, I expected some kind of discount or even a small gesture, but Mercedes apparently wouldn’t approve anything, and the response was just a shrug. For 250 soles, you can get a big air b n b in the same area. Staying here was the worst choice we could’ve made, and I wouldn’t return.

A nice little hotel, cheap and cheerful.
