Machu Picchu Suites

We’re budget travelers, so we weren’t expecting the Ritz. We did expect a clean, honest place, and this wasn’t one. There was a nasty mildew smell from the carpets and sheets, and the photos looked nothing like the actual place. The included breakfast was grapes, toast, and eggs, with water available to buy. We took six or seven taxi rides back, and no driver could figure out where we were. That made me think we might be in a bad area or a random residential one, and neither felt comfortable as travelers. I’m ready to leave.

The damp and visible mold made this feel unsafe for my health. I’ve developed a respiratory infection, and despite getting medicine, I can’t sleep properly because I keep coughing. I’m traveling with a toddler, and we’re stuck here for a month after paying upfront. We first stayed for a week, but the bathroom was awful, so we asked to move. The owner agreed, and the new room was bigger, but its bathroom was still poorly ventilated. The mold and damp on the ceiling were visible, and the smell got into everything. The crockery and pillows weren’t in good condition either. They service the room weekly, and it was implied that linen would only be changed once a month. Really? That’s unhygienic. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

It was clean, and the service was wonderful. I’d recommend it to travelers.

The place smells, there’s no hot water, and when you ask about it, nobody answers. I’d rather stay out on the street than come here.
