The staff were polite and helpful, and the hotel took us to and from the airport for free. It's a decent place with a small pool, close to the main downtown attractions and restaurants. We spent two nights in a "Matrimonial" room. After the first night we switched rooms because the thin white curtains let in the light, and an outdoor spotlight was shining straight into our room. The thicker yellow curtains in the new room helped a lot. The bathroom was clean, with a decent shower and hot water. The double bed was hard and noisy, though the pillows were good.

I'd stayed here before and had a good visit, but this time was terrible. The shower had no hot water despite it being promised, and the staff seemed disinterested and unhelpful. Our salad and frozen juice took an hour to arrive. The juice had no flavor and came with big chunks of ice. Wi-Fi was mediocre at best, and there was lots of noise from motokars outside.

At night the atmosphere was great, and I tried an ice cream with aguaje, lucuma, and mango. So good. The hotel is close to plaza armas Tarapoto.
