1896 Bed And Breakfast

This is a big house converted into a hotel, and it’s a local hangout, so nights can be very noisy. There’s alcohol, pool, and videokie, and they’ll prepare food, though I didn’t eat there. The water is shut off at 11pm and comes back when they wake up, sometime after 7, and I always had to ask. Don’t expect much, but you can mingle with locals. Go with an open mind and you may have fun.

The people at the restaurant were the only ones who seemed helpful. Inside, it was very dark and nobody was at reception. The room was fine for sleeping, but that was about it. Although free parking is advertised, when we went out the gate was locked after 8pm. We sent messages and called without getting an answer, so we had to look for somewhere outside to park.

We stayed in Jacinto last weekend. It’s really large and could fit 6pax, and I like the feel of the old house. The staff were very accommodating, and it’s a good distance from Burnham Park and SM Baguio. Breakfast is served and cooked there, and the water heater worked well. The room could use better lighting, and the wifi didn’t work. Still, it was a nice stay and I’d like to come back.

I loved the house and the room they gave us, and the staff were kind and polite. It felt like an ideal homestay, though maybe I’m just too much of a romantic. The hot shower wasn’t working, the closet needed me to fix it myself, and water was a bit scarce. Those issues kept me from giving it 5 stars, especially since in Baguio you really need a hot shower.
