We arrived on the evening of Friday 9 Feb without a booking and stayed as five people in family room No 205. The young woman at reception was very polite, helpful, and apologetic, and the breakfast dining staff were kind too. The pool and dining room also looked fine. But the hotel and room were shabby and neglected, and badly in need of renovation. The toilet barely flushed because it filled very slowly, and after I complained they gave me a bucket. There was no hot water because the heater wasn't working, nowhere to put our luggage, no Wi-Fi or telephone in the room, and no refrigerator. The window AC was so loud it sounded like a tractor and made it hard to sleep. There was a major crack in the ceiling, with an electrical socket hanging from it. The bathroom was old, dark, and decrepit, and the beds were uncomfortable. I can't recommend this hotel at all. The owners urgently need to renovate it and bring the standard up.

The staff and outdoor areas were nice, but the rooms felt gloomy. It was okay, though I wouldn't recommend staying indoors. The water heater didn't work, and there were no rugs in the room to dry our feet.

The pool is large and the dining area has plenty of space. The rooms are nice and big, though they need a little cleaning. That's understandable, since hotels are still feeling the effects of the pandemic. It's easy to get here from the Poblacion, and the service is good. Bathroom water pressure is a bit low.

The location is a real plus: Seacoast Inn is in the town proper, with the Museo, Baler Church, Aurora's house, and plenty of shops nearby or within walking distance. The property is nicely designed and makes for good photos, especially the newer buildings. We had a good family time in Baler, so I’m giving it three stars, though I was close to giving one. The place is poorly maintained for what it could be. The lobby felt sad, and the hallway near it was like a dark, haunted movie hallway. Maybe we arrived on a cleaning or rest day, but nobody showed us to our rooms at the far end of the property. When we returned from dinner, the floor where our rooms were had no lights on, so we used a cellphone to get up the stairs. The pool had moss, bugs, and frogs when we arrived, though staff cleaned it later that night. The next day, a trash bin at the bottom of the stairs had spilled, and we had to walk past the mess; it was still there when we returned. In the room I shared with my daughter, the bathroom drain smelled like sewage. The doorknobs were so stiff my cousin had to twist them from outside to let me out. The blackout curtains were dusty and stained too. Breakfast tasted good, but there weren’t choices: tocilog on the first day, chicksilog on the second, and only one kind of creamy white instant coffee in sachets. We managed, but I’m sure cheaper places offer better service and maintenance.

The room gets 3/5 from me. The floor tiles seem old, so I’d consider staying here only if you mainly need somewhere to sleep. Location gets 5/5: it’s a three-minute ride to Sabang beach, whether by private car or trike. I walked there from the inn in about 10 minutes. The town proper is also within walking distance, including Museo de Baler, the famous Baler marker, Baler Church, Quezon Park, and Aurora house.
