GV Hotel Baybay

I had a terrible stay. Parking was so limited that I had to leave my car somewhere else. Even worse, the water was very dirty and smelled foul.

The aircon was broken, the water smelled awful, and the bed had a stale sweat smell.

We only needed a room for one night. It was raining hard and we couldn’t keep driving to Ormoc. Our corner room on the second floor had a window, but it faced the roof and plumbing outside. The old-style TV had terrible reception, and the ACU was noisy and seemed to need cleaning and a new filter. The towels and sheets were thin and worn. More than once, the room smelled like sewer, and we could hear the room above flushing the toilet. The staff at check-in and checkout were pleasant. But several times when we went downstairs, a uniformed staff member was leaning or sitting on our motorcycle as if it belonged to them. We didn’t say anything because we didn’t want trouble or retaliation, especially with the signs saying “Park at Your Own Risk.” Staff need more training. It was an okay stay for just one night, but I wouldn’t recommend staying longer.

The staff were polite, and the location is handy, close to a mall and places to eat. The terminal and port are one ride away. Parking in front is limited. I had a basic room with a chair and cabinet, plus a basic bathroom and free soap. The lighting in Room 407 was dim. It’s a semi-budget place, with no elevator and just one electrical socket for charging. Recommended. Thank you for a safe and memorable stay in Baybay, Leyte.
