My first choice of hostel was full, so I stayed here because Fuente was convenient for my dentist and a ride to SM Seaside. I got a two-person bunk instead of the one-person one I’d booked because the fan wasn’t in good condition, which meant more space. Check-in and check-out were easy, and the bed was good in a big room. It’s a cheap city-center option if there aren’t other hostels available. There wasn’t a canteen or place to eat because it was “for renovation.” Some other rooms were dark, and the walk to the common bathroom felt long and a bit creepy. The bathroom wasn’t exactly clean, but bearable. I didn’t like the feeling of being in a big space with only a few people around. I don’t think I’ll stay here again.

It’s good value for the area, though if you’re staying several days, you might do better a little farther out and take a jeepney to town. The location is right in the middle of town, with plenty of 24-hour eateries and grocery stores. The room was very clean and the WiFi was good, but it only had a bed. Bathrooms are shared, and bathroom and toilet facilities are limited. No toiletries are provided, and drinking water costs extra.

Citi Circle is affordable and right in the heart of the city. We stayed in a dorm room, which was very small, with three double-decker beds. The comfort rooms are shared and outside the rooms, as you’d expect in a backpacker hostel. There’s an elevator, and hot and cold water from the kitchen is free. Beside the Information Counter is a common living room with a TV, plus tables and chairs for eating takeout. There were lots of foreign guests, often booked into the capsule rooms.

At the time, in Dec 2018, the rate was 995/day for a double bed with its own bath. The place is well located for getting around Cebu after sightseeing, with malls and restaurants within walking distance. There are several transport options, including taxi, jeep, and free shuttle, depending on your budget. It was physically clean with no bugs, and the aircon worked well without being noisy. The room still smelled bad, like a septic tank. It had a TV but no remote or cable, so it was like wall decor. There was no window, which made it feel like being in a facility, especially without the TV. Bring a mobile phone if you’re alone to keep your sanity. There were no towels, table, or chairs, and eating or drinking came with a corkage charge of 1,500. We slept okay once we got used to the smell, and got around Cebu cheaply by jeep or on foot.

We went to visit our supervisor at Cebu Doc, and needed somewhere to catch up on sleep. I first chose the cheaper room for two, but it felt claustrophobic: tiny, no table, chairs, windows, or TV, and the bathroom was shared outside the room. We switched to a deluxe room for two and paid P1,195 total, including P200 for the extra person. YES, THEY ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS! 😁 The deluxe room was bigger, clean, and had no bad smell. The bed was queen sized? All three of us fit. The TV and AC both worked and had remotes. The bathroom was inside, with two big towels, bars of soap, shampoo and conditioner dispensers, and a detachable showerhead. There was no closet, but hangers and a place to hang clothes. It had no table, chairs, or window. The rate covered 24 hours, though we only used the room for about 8 hours. For the price, it was decent and very accessible from Fuente Osmeña Circle.
