The room was okay, but the toilet in the bathroom often wouldn’t flush. Breakfast was decent, especially upstairs on the top floor with those panoramic views. The staff were pleasant and very helpful, and a big thank you to Elaine at reception. When I paid for a drink with two 500 peso notes, they couldn’t make change, so I switched to card. At first, they handed me back two 50 peso notes!!!

The breakfast was good, and the customer service was outstanding. Our room was clean and spacious, with a lovely view from the windows. There wasn’t much soundproofing, though, so you could hear plenty of noise at night. We also had no hot water, and the water supply was interrupted sometimes.

The staff were all really friendly, and we had a nice view. The mirrors were foggy, though, and breakfast was just okay. The air-con leaked, and the faucet spray was so strong it was inconvenient 🥹, especially if you’d already gotten dressed and forgot how forceful it was.

It’s easy to find the hotel, and getting food delivered shouldn’t be a problem. You can walk to the mall and a few places to eat in a couple of minutes, though sidewalks disappear in places and you may have to walk along the road. There’s a 7/11 around the block, with a bakery across from it. The breakfast buffet was probably the best part of my stay. I was there two nights, and it seemed like the hot dishes rotate. It’s Filipino-style, with rice and different meats, so it felt more like lunch. There was also bread, a salad bar, and cereal, although I couldn’t find a bowl for the cereal and still wonder if I missed one. My favorite was the hot chocolate, which tasted the same both mornings and went really well with the Puto Maya served beside it. I want to be clear that my two-star rating has nothing to do with the staff. I had no problems with them and found them very professional. I also didn’t raise any of these concerns with them, so I can’t say how they would have responded. The room looked fine at first, and I liked the closet space. The disposable slippers were a nice touch. But the bathroom had large rust stains where doorstops may have been, and the faucets and showerhead were covered in limescale and hard water marks. The showerhead was partly clogged. The faucet had come loose from the sink, so I had to hold the spout down to avoid pulling the whole thing off. The water came out in a weak trickle, and by the second day I noticed the sink drain leaking and splashing onto my foot. The towels were a bit rough but absorbed water well. One had rust stains, though I couldn’t tell whether the stain was on the towel or the rack because I’m short. There were rust marks on the bed too, which stood out against the white sheets. The bed was small but comfortable, and the pillows were fine. They provide shampoo, soap, and lotion, but no conditioner, so bring your own or buy some in the city if you need it. There wasn’t a hairdryer, which usually wouldn’t matter to me, but the one I’d brought wasn’t working, maybe because of voltage. Snacks and drinks were in the room, but there was no note or price label to say if they were free. The AC was probably the worst part. Even at the lowest setting, it didn’t cool the room, so I only used it like a lukewarm fan. I had to sit on the bed facing it to avoid sweating; moving around the room meant getting hot. The hallway was actually cooler than my room, even after I left the AC running while I ate breakfast.

We really enjoyed our stay at Goldberry. The staff were warm and helpful, and the accommodations were great. They served a tasty, nicely presented brunch buffet with a wide variety of food. Thanks from Chanok and Lin.
