Discovery Island Resort

This is a place that seems built more for a romantic break than a solo trip. I stayed 10 days and realized within the first few that it wasn’t really for single people. The views are amazing, and it’s tucked away from Coron’s hustle and bustle. They run a boat to Coron Bay between 9am and 9pm, with times adjustable for ferry and plane schedules. My room was fantastic, and I had the hotel’s best room. The staff were polite and friendly. Scuba diving, boat tours, and mopeds are available at decent prices. The atmosphere is calming, and for a few days it’s worth a stay if you want to unwind from the busy streets. There’s a pool and pool table, but not much entertainment beyond that. The pool is extremely small, around 6 meters long, and its design and steps make it hard to swim properly if you want to burn off some calories. It does have an amazing view. Food quality is decent, but pizza isn’t on offer, and breakfast is okay though could be better. Entertainment is pretty much nonexistent. I’d stay again, but only for a few days. Some dishes on the menu are good, but the selection could be improved, and they need an entertainment department. Hearing music from nearby hotels can make you wonder why you didn’t choose one of them. The pool steps should be fixed so they don’t get in the way of swimming. I hope the staff take these suggestions on board to help improve the resort. God bless.

It’s extremely quiet, and the resort staff are wonderful. I was still thinking about them after checking out, and this was the best hotel experience I’ve had in CORON. Miss Angellica is a wonderful person to contact directly, she’ll offer you the best rooms.

We picked Discovery Island Resort for our first time in Coron and were so glad we did. The cottage was cute and well kept, the bedding comfortable, and the staff were warm and welcoming, always serving with a smile. On arrival they gave us cold melon juice, which was so refreshing after a long travel day. It’s in a quiet area, but a free shuttle boat gets you to town in about 10 minutes. They arranged a private island-hopping tour at an affordable price, with stunning stops and a lovely lunch. We also booked a relaxing massage at a very reasonable rate. The free kayaks were fun for exploring the natural beauty nearby, just don’t paddle too far out. The restaurant food was great, with no complaints from the dishes we tried. Our favorites were Chicharon Bulaklak and Shrimp Sinigang. There’s a great range of cold beers, cocktails, and fruit juices. The outdoor pool was clean and had beautiful views. We’ll definitely stay here again, and for longer. Highly recommend!

The beds are hard, though that’s what you might expect for 2500 pesos. Still giving it five stars, because the resort is beautiful, right on the ocean, and the food and staff are amazing.
