Ricardo Valley Inn

We paid in full on January 15 for three beds for February 2-7. Then today, January 31, 2024, just one day before our flight, they messaged to say there was a maintenance problem. If they’d told us sooner, we could have cancelled, instead of being left stranded when we arrived. They should have suggested another place to stay, since the issue wasn’t our fault, and they shouldn’t have listed on Agoda if there was a problem. They offered neither another room nor another hotel. Maybe the other customers were right about the slow service. I don’t accept their apology. They should stop taking bookings and close immediately.

The staff were nice, and when our room wasn’t available they upgraded us. But there was no welcome drink, hot water, cleaning, or breakfast option. Such a shame, because the hotel has potential. If they can’t provide what’s included in the price, they should offer fewer services and charge less for the room. That would avoid disappointing guests.

The kitchen was available for us to use, and we could hang wet clothes on the back terrace. They also let guests use the fridge, though it’s a good idea to label your things. Our room was comfortable, with a nice bed and air conditioning, in a quiet part of Coron that’s still close to the centre. We shared a bathroom, and it wasn’t cleaned every day, so it got dirty after our 'neighbours'. On our third night, water from the air conditioner started leaking through the ceiling. The place was nice, but that needs attention.

On our only night there, heavy rain came down and, around 2am, water started running through the ceiling into our room. It woke me up. I couldn’t find anyone from the hotel at that hour, so I found a bucket and used it to catch the water. I spoke to the woman at the hotel in the morning, and I hope they fixed it straight away. The place itself was nice, clean, and modern, with air conditioning, hot water, and a big kitchen.
