Southview Hotel

We booked rooms for a group of 46. The rooms were new and spacious, but the service was awful. Most staff seemed unwilling and inexperienced, with one housekeeping worker the only person who treated us decently. I’m including a photo of my booking as proof that I really stayed here. I’m not writing this to spread hate, but I was a real guest and want the owners to know how badly this needs to improve. We enjoyed Dumaguete, but this hotel was a total letdown, and I’d tell people to stay elsewhere rather than spoil their vacation here. The sales person was a major problem from the start. When I asked about booking, he opened with “we need a deposit” without greeting me or asking what I needed. I was shocked by how low the standards seemed. I booked despite those warning signs, and things only got worse. I feel sorry for the owners because they could be losing a lot of sales by having him there. We needed packed breakfasts because of our schedule, and staff took a lot of persuading before agreeing. They charged extra, yet the package included a Milo sachet. How are you supposed to make hot chocolate while travelling? We asked to pay extra for bottled water instead, but they said the package couldn’t be changed. They wouldn’t even think it through. Where’s the common sense or even a little care? The front desk and other staff need to remember that guests are the reason the business exists.

I’m staying here for four days, and as a tourist who doesn’t know Dumaguete, parking has been difficult to figure out. For days we struggled without knowing there was a parking area at the back of the building. I was disappointed the security guard didn’t mention it. Staff should tell guests about that lot when they arrive.

Our event is on the rooftop, where events are held. The elevator fits only about eight people, so you can also use the stairs to get to any floor. I’m used to taking the stairs, so that’s fine.

The rooms are really clean and nicely priced. Wi-Fi is excellent, there’s lots of parking in front and behind the buildings, and the staff are very friendly.
