Eurotel Makati

This was my third stay, and they upgraded me to a bigger room. Everything was great, and the staff are always helpful and courteous. There are plenty of places to eat nearby, plus a small shopping center across the street with a Starbucks. Little Tokyo, with its many Japanese restaurants, is close too. The airport is near enough that I don’t have to worry about traffic.

We left the next morning after just one night of a two-night booking and booked another hotel. Both rooms we saw had unacceptable cleanliness issues, and the service was poor. My wife has allergic rhinitis, so the widespread mold on the first room’s ceiling was a health concern we couldn’t accept. The other room had no visible mold on the ceiling, but the floors and furniture were dusty and the walls had noticeable stains. We arrived around 8:00 PM. People were smoking cigarettes near the entrance, apparently in the designated smoking area. We were exhausted and hoping to rest, but check-in took nearly 30 minutes because only one person was at reception and the hotel was severely understaffed. In the first room, dirt on the floor and furniture was obvious, there were stains on the walls, and the bedsheet and pillows had hair all over them. The slippers provided had been used. The bathroom drain was clogged and the room flooded even when we ran the shower for only a few seconds. That’s when we asked for another room.

I booked the wrong dates by mistake and noticed within 10 minutes. Since the stay was still a month away, I contacted the hotel right away to ask to change the dates or cancel. They flatly refused and made no effort to help. The hotel had availability for that day and the days after, and the correct dates I asked for were actually cheaper than what I’d been charged. They kept the money anyway. This wasn’t a last-minute cancellation, but a correction requested almost immediately after booking. It feels unfair and like they’re profiting from an obvious human error. If this is how they treat customers before a stay even starts, I can only imagine what happens when real problems come up on site. There was no empathy, customer care, or ethical business practice. I strongly recommend avoiding this hotel. Plenty of other places know how to treat customers respectfully and reasonably.

I’ve stayed here several times, and each visit has brought back that feeling of Filipino hospitality. Marcos, the supervisor, is the best. He and the rest of the helpful team really go out of their way to make sure guests are doing well. The location is great, and while it isn’t a five-star hotel, the price is cheap for what you get.
