Orange Nest Hotel

There was a TV bracket but no TV, just a wire sticking out of the wall. I couldn’t shower because it would take an hour to fill a bucket. The western toilet wasn’t connected, and neither was the hot water service. Pretty pitiful.

The polite staff, no more than five people, communicated well, but the hotel was in very poor shape and looked like it might be for sale or lease. It seemed like proper maintenance had been neglected for quite a while. I booked through Booking.com and felt completely misled by the online photos. The reception area looked neglected and smelled dusty. It seemed to have been a café before, but barely worked as a reception now. Dust covered the furniture and sofas, and fake spider webs with Halloween decorations made it feel even more unpleasant. Corridors and rooms were dimly lit with yellowish lights, unlike the bright, clean look in the listing. The furniture in the room was old and worn. At check-in, the receptionist handed me a roll of toilet paper, which felt unusual and unprofessional. The bathroom was the worst part. The drain didn’t work properly, so water pooled on the floor after every shower. The heater gave either extremely hot or extremely cold water, with no proper way to adjust the temperature. I got just one towel, and when I asked for another or a floor mat, they gave me an old, dirty one. I’ve stayed at many budget hotels, especially around Asia, but never had a bedsheet used as a blanket. When I asked for a proper blanket, they handed me another sheet. It was a very disappointing stay, nothing like the listing described or showed.

Worst stay ever. The bathroom had no toiletries, was filthy, and smelled bad. Water was left standing on the floor.

The sink water was brown, the shower barely had any pressure, and there were cockroaches all over the room. When the bedding got stained by accident, they charged me 1,500 Php, more than the room itself, which cost 1,225 Php.
