The road in was a real adventure, with kilometres of clay and rocks and some seriously boggy stretches, so the trip from Port Barton takes a while. They can arrange a 4 wheel drive transfer. Once there, though, the peaceful, low-key setting was exactly what we needed to unplug and unwind on a beautiful tropical island. Our place felt like a simple, rustic treehouse, with a hammock and sea view among the gardens and palms. There was loads of room to relax in loungers, swings, hammocks under coconut trees, or down on the beach. John made Christmas Eve extra fun with a party, which made our Christmas stay feel special. You can rent kayaks, SUPs, and 4x4s, go for walks to waterfalls, or get a massage. Most of the food was very good, with plenty of European options, though naturally it won't be exactly like home. The cocktails were amazing and the staff were very helpful. We’ll miss this little paradise.

The place is very green, with lots of plants, and the basic bungalows were small but clean. Still, the price felt too high for what we got. Toilets weren't clean, food could take up to an hour whether the restaurant was busy or empty, and it was already expensive with another 20% added to every menu item. The staff seemed unmotivated, and the owner's focus felt like it was only on revenue. Since the location means using his transport offers, which cost too much, that added to the frustration. If the owner put more effort into upkeep, cleanliness, and keeping staff motivated instead of maximizing profit, this could be a paradise. Then we'd be willing to pay even more.

John has built something amazing here. It's remote, but Starlink keeps it connected, and it has everything you could need. The staff are friendly and the food is great, so it's a lovely place to get away from it all and relax in paradise. Thanks a lot for a wonderful stay, John! The negative comments in other reviews seem to me like people cherry picking.

John, the owner, is hands-on and makes sure you aren't left waiting or stuck without help. The service was the best, and the food was superb too. It's a great place if you want a quiet day surrounded by nature. Our room was cozy, and the shower was a classic open-air setup, spacious and roofless, so you can shower under the stars while still having the privacy you need.

The rocky beach and even rockier road to the resort make getting there difficult. You need an SUV. Our bungalow leaked on us all night, and even though there was only one other guest at the resort, they still wouldn't move us to another one. Someone had left diarrhoea on the toilet seat in the downstairs bathroom, and the owner denied it. Service was bare minimum, the island tour was on an old boat, and the food was awful and overpriced. They charged us for hot chocolate, then we found out the next day it was included with breakfast. This was our worst experience in all of the Philippines.
